A.      GRAFEN von NASSAU in WIESBADEN, later in IDSTEIN

WALRAM von Nassau, son of HEINRICH II "der Reiche" Graf von Nassau & his wife Mathilde van Gelderland ([1220]-24 Jan 1276).  He succeeded his father [before 1251] as WALRAM II Joint Graf von Nassau, jointly with his brother Otto.  In 1255, they divided the lands, WALRAM taking Weilburg, Idstein and Wiesbaden. 

m (before 1250). ADELHEID von Katzenelnbogen, daughter of DIETRICH IV Graf von Katzenelnbogen (-Mainz 22 Feb 1288, bur Mainz Klarissen-Kloster).

1.           DIETHER (-Trier 23 Nov 1307, bur Trier Dominikanerkirche).  Archbishop of Trier 1300. 

2.           ADOLF von Nassau ([1255]-killed in battle near Göllheim 2 Jul 1298).  He succeeded his father in 1276 as ADOLF Graf von Nassau at Wiesbaden.  Elected ADOLF King of Germany at Frankfurt am Main 5 May 1292, crowned at Aachen 24 Jun 1292.  King Adolf provoked the open hostility of his electors because of his neutrality towards England, his opposition to France and his efforts to consolidate his family's position in Germany.  He was charged with offences which included desecration of churches, breaches of oath and failure to keep the peace, tried in his absence and deposed 23 Jun 1298 in Mainz Cathedral by the electors.  A new conflict with the papacy followed as the Pope had not been consulted[1].  King Adolf refused to accept the ruling and was killed in battle by Albrecht I Duke of Austria who had been elected to succeed as King of Germany.  The Notæ Altahenses record that "Adolfus rex Romanorum" was killed in battle "1298 5 Non Iul"[2].  m ([1271]) IMAGINA von Isenburg-Limburg, daughter of GERLACH I von Isenburg in Limburg an der Lahn (-29 Aug----, bur Klarenthal).  1279/1317.

b)           RUPRECHT (-2 Dec 1304, bur Prague).  The Annales Colmarienses record that "dominus de Rinperch" freed "filium regis Adolfi" from captivity in 1299[3]. 

c)            MECHTILD (before 1280-Heidelberg 19 Jun 1323, bur Klarenthal).  The Notæ Fuerstenfeldenses record the marriage of "filiam Romanorum regis Adolfi…Mechtildim" and Duke Rudolf within a few days of his father's death[4].  The Chronicon Elwacense records the marriage "in Nurnberg 4 Non Sep 1294" of "Rudolfo duci Bavariæ" and "Adolfus rex Romanorum filiam suam"[5].  m (Nürnberg 1 Sep 1294) RUDOLF I Duke of Upper Bavaria Pfalzgraf bei Rhein, son of LUDWIG II "der Strenge" Duke of Bavaria, Pfalzgraf bei Rhein & his third wife Mechtild von Habsburg (4 Oct 1274-[11/13] Aug 1319).

GERLACH von Nassau, son of ADOLF Graf von Nassau King of Germany & his wife Imagina von Isenburg-Limburg (-1 Jan 1371, bur Kloster Liebenau).  Canon at Liège.  He succeeded in 1305 as GERLACH I Graf von Nassau in Wiesbaden, Idstein and Weilburg.  From (1326 in ½ Weilnau.  Abdicated 1344. 

m firstly ([12 Jan/13 May] 1307) AGNES von Hessen, daughter of HEINRICH "dem Jüngeren" Landgraf Herr von Hessen & his wife Agnes of Bavaria (-13 Jan 1332, bur Klarenthal). 

m secondly (before 4 Jan 1337) as her second husband, Irmengard von Hohenlohe, widow of KONRAD III Burggraf von Nürnberg, daughter of Kraft II von Hohenlohe & his wife Adelheid von Württemberg (-11 May 1372).

1.           GERLACH ([1333]-after 1386).  He succeeded his father in 1370 as GERLACH II Joint Graf von Nassau-Wiesbaden-Idstein, jointly with his brother Walram.  m (before 1360) as her first husband, AGNES von Veldenz, daughter of HEINRICH II Graf von Veldenz[-Geroldseck].  1360/98.  She married secondly OTTO Wildgraf in Dhronecken (-1409 before 31 May).

m (contract Worms 17 Mar 1412, Mar 1418) MARGARETA von Baden, daughter of BERNHARD I Markgraf von Baden & his second wife Anna von Oettingen (25 Jan 1404-7 Nov 1442, bur Idstein). 

1.           JOHANN (1419-9 May 1480).  He succeeded his father in 1426 as JOHANN Graf von Nassau-Wiesbaden-Idstein.  m (Breda 17 Jun 1437) MARIE von Nassau-Dillenburg, daughter of ENGELBERT I Graf von Nassau-Dillenburg (2 Feb 1418-11 Oct 1472).
